There is something about this land that brings out the adventurer in people. All that sky, maybe, or the mountains, standing proud beneath it. Whatever it is, you’ll have the opportunity to explore it. There is little that will hold your breath as a mountain meadow covered in untracked snow. During, the winter months, we offer endless snow shoe and cross country ski opportunities with diverse levels of difficulty. Including skiing into the Yellowstone National Park! No vehicle traffic, just you, your host and the immense openness of the great Park.
When was the last time you saw two monstrous Big Horn Sheep engaged in serious head on collisions? Not recently? How about herds of deer and Elk or a solitary wild Buffalo in an open snowy meadow as you walk up a river bank? Bald Eagles soaring overhead with an occasional piercing scream! Another advantage to the area during the quiet months is the unlimited amount of wildlife that is always present.
The Ranch operates during the winter months predominately on a long weekend basis and attempts to hold the guest list to only a few of the cabins. Ideal for couples, looking for a quiet getaway for a little relaxation and wild life viewing or for the adventurous, looking for a great workout in the mountains. We can accommodate most wishes!
Throughout the winter, the UXU operates on a two night minimum stay with rates starting at $250 a night inclusive of meals and most activities. The activities are specifically designed with what you desire. There may be an additional charge for certain activities or for equipment rentals. Please enquire with the Ranch.
Hunting at the UXU Ranch for Big Horn Sheep, Elk or Big Mule Deer is always an experience worth trying. The Wyoming Fish and Game have designated the area surrounding the UXU as a limited quota area and you must first obtain your license through the state drawing. The Ranch is used as the base camp for the hunt and all outfitting is in conjunction with our partners at Sheep Mesa Outfitting.
