A Week at the UXU RANCH

Your stay with us will be uniquely tailored to your specific preferences. But for a general idea of what it's like to visit the ranch, here's a look at a "typical week" at the UXU:

SUNDAY
Guests are welcomed to the ranch and from noon to 3pm. Later, guests are treated to a wine and cheese reception on the banks of the Shoshone River. You'll have a chance to meet your fellow guests, learn some local history, and get your bearings around the ranch before dinner.

MONDAY
Get to know our horses and take a ride around the property. Monday's two horseback rides allow guests to become comfortable with both your horse and the beautiful mountain scenery around the Ranch. Later in the afternoon, try your hand at softball at 6000 feet above sea level.

TUESDAY
Tour nearby Yellowstone, the nation's first and best National Park. See grizzlies, elk, moose, wolves and natural scenery unlike anywhere else in the world. Enjoy cowboy songs around the campfire while dining on Ribs, Chicken and Catfish in a truly Southern manner!

WEDNESDAY
Saddle up for an all-day horseback ride featuring a gourmet barbecue lunch. Spend the late afternoon at our shooting range working on some target practice or soak in the hot tub with a cool drink.

THURSDAY
Pick your favorite activity: horseback riding, fly fishing, hiking, or just relax. Then regroup for a visit to Old Trail Town and the Cody Nite Rodeo.

FRIDAY
Another chance to do exactly what you want on this open day in the schedule. Afternoon softball is always an option, or visit the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody. Most guests choose to spend the day rafting on the Shoshone River.

SATURDAY
Pack your bags, take your last pictures and say goodbye to new friends and old. Don't forget to reserve your spot for next year!

You can choose to do as much or as little as you like. Some guests prefer to ride horses every day, others can't get enough fishing, while many choose to just kick back, relax and enjoy the slower pace of life in the shadow of Yellowstone. Regardless of what you're looking for, rest assured you'll find it at the UXU Ranch.

Rocky Mountain Gourmet
If you're of the opinion that "gourmet food" and "dude ranch" don't belong in the same sentence together, think again.

Long famous for its exceptional food and wine, the UXU has recently expanded our menu and added a number of international selections to our wine list.

So whether you're looking for fresh regional fare like grilled Wyoming beef, or a more nuanced dish like pork medallions with a huckleberry glaze, you're likely to enjoy a lot of great food during your week here.

Be sure to take a look at a typical menu for the week, as well as our wine list. We also have a fully stocked bar complete with your favorite spirits.

And you're likely to get plenty of exercise and fresh air while you're here, so come hungry and be ready to enjoy gourmet Rocky Mountain food like you've never imagined.

"Thanks for making our first dude ranch stay so enjoyable! We'd love to visit again. The meals were stupendous and your hospitality so warm! Good luck to all of you."

Something for Everyone
Many of our first-time guests arrive concerned that they won't be "up to the challenge" of spending a week in the rugged surroundings of Wyoming. But they all leave knowing such concerns will never cross their minds again.

While some guests want the full "Western Experience" while they're here, others want to just relax and take things at an easy pace. The way we see it, this is your vacation, so you should call the shots.

There's plenty to do while you're here, from hiking to fishing to horseback riding to an adventure in Yellowstone Park. But if your idea of fun is sitting on the porch with a good book, or napping in the hammock with a cold drink, then we've got you covered there too.

Guests enjoy an afternoon on horseback, exploring the Shoshone National Forest.

We want you to leave feeling like you got to do everything you wanted to do, but you shouldn't arrive home feeling like you need a vacation from your vacation. So we'll work around what you want, giving you as much -- or as little -- as you'd like to tackle while you're here.

Finally, you should know we also offer plenty of special trips and services for folks with all levels of abilities. We've even got favorite fishing spots that are wheel-chair accessible, and picnic spots along horse trails that you can reach on foot or by four-wheel drive. We pride ourselves on making sure all our guests have a good time, no matter how they define "fun."
